The Umkomaas River’s vegetation is predominantly a valley bushveld with a few mistbelt forest sections sprinkled about, and birdwatching is a favourite in the area

The Umkomaas Valley is an eco-adventurer’s dream holiday or weekend getaway. The forest and river trails at Hella Hella allow you to enjoy the diverse species of trees and vegetation, while offering the birdwatchers amongst you a prolific bird life to enjoy. The endangered Blue Swallow, which breeds in the upland grasses overlooking the Mkomazi Valley is a rare and lucky spotting should you happen across it.
